Design Elements

The creative possibilities are almost limitless!

Your lifestyle should determine the design of your kitchen.  The style of cabinets should be your choice.  We can assist you to choose a wood species, finish, door style and hardware to match your style and desires.  Mixing woods and finishes are popular design trends today, and they allow you an opportunity for creativity and uniqueness.  Varying cabinet heights can be a way to add interest and functionality in your kitchen.

Wood Species

There are many naturally occurring variations in hard wood - some species are better suited for specific finishes than others. Consult with us at Loyal T. Cabinetry to find the best combination for your project. (NOTE:  Although we strive to select wood that is similar in color, because wood is a naturally occurring material, there will be variations in grain and color.  These variations should not be considered defects, only the naturally occurring character of the wood.)  The following is a short list - let us know if you don't see one of your favorites shown below.

Wood species in order of expense from least expensive to most expensive:  Oak/Hickory, Beech, Maple/Birch, Cherry/1/4 sawn Oak, Mahogany.

Door Styles

Your cabinets should be unique, and we have over 5,000 door styles for you to choose from.  Each feature on the cabinet doors and drawers can be selected by you.  For example you can choose the shape of the center panel, the outside profile, the panel profile and the inside profile.  You can have beaded center panels, applied mouldings, inset doors and overlay doors.  We can explain each to you and help you make your selections.

Shelves/Drawers

All our shelves are ¾” plywood, or solid wood.  Our drawers all are 5/8” dovetail construction, with the bottom fitted into the sides for maximum strength.

Hardware

We have 3 choices of drawer slides.  All of them carry a minimum of 100# rating.  The hinges for your cabinets will be determined by the door and cabinet style.  We offer both “cup” or European hinges and traditional “pin-style” hinges for inset doors.  You can also select from several knob and pull companies.

Ornamentation

You may want a kitchen with turned posts and corbels.  We offer a selection of turnings, corbels and carvings from several manufacturers.
